We have many cats and kittens available for adoption at the shelter. The very best way to see our cats and kittens for adoption is to visit our Facebook page at Knox-Whitley Animal Shelter. This is where we post pictures of animals for adoption on a daily basis. You’re welcome to call the shelter to get more information on any cat, and we’d be glad to discuss what you’re looking for in case we have another cat that might be a match for you. Also, please note that not every cat at our shelter is shown. You’re also welcome to visit our shelter to meet any of our available cats. If you do not see a cat that we have available for adoption that matches what you’re looking for, DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED FROM ADOPTING! You can also:
1. Go to Petsense in London, Kentucky as they have many of our cats available for adoption.
2. Go to Petfinder.com and enter your zip code. Cats in your area that are with shelters and rescues will be displayed.
3. Visit the Lexington Humane Society website or shelter. This shelter has 100’s of beautiful perfect cats to adopt of every age and breed you can imagine. It’s a beautiful shelter too so you won’t feel uncomfortable going there. Also, not all of their cats are on their website so a visit to their shelter will allow you to see all the cats they have for adoption.
Finally, it is a common misconception that animals end up in shelters because the animal has a behavioral problem of some kind. In fact, it is usually no fault of the animal that he or she is in the shelter. Most cats in shelters are released (abandoned or dropped off at the shelter) because the owner is no longer able to care for the animal due to hardship, a change in circumstances, or a lack of continued desire to care for the animal.
Please consider adopting a cat from a shelter. You will truly be saving a life, while gaining the unconditional and forever love of an animal.
